Requesting an Item Through Interlibrary Loan

Answer

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) refers to the sharing of resources between libraries.

All current Macalester College students, staff and faculty may request scans of articles or book chapters held in other libraries. Physical items may be requested for on-campus library pickup. You can learn more about ILL from our Interlibrary Loan Library Guide.

To request an item through Interlibrary Loan:

  1. Search for the item in the Worldcat Discovery search box. If the item is not held at our library, click on the "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" button.  (You will be prompted to enter your Mac username and password to go into our interlibrary loan system ILLiad.)
  2. Make any necessary changes to the ILL form that is populated with information taken from the item record. (For example- if you will not accept the item in a language other than English, please let us know.  Or if you need a specific edition, please specify.)
  3. Click Submit Request when finished and then log off ILLiad.

You can review your requests and the ILL items you currently have checked out by logging on to your ILL Account.
