Library Fines

Answer

The library does not charge late fees for items from our regular collection!

However, when a book is one month overdue, or a sound recording is one week overdue, it will be considered lost. While we do send out reminder notifications when a book is long overdue, if the item is not returned on time a standard replacement charge of $65 will be applied for books, $125 for video recordings, and cost-of-item for other equipment. For interlibrary loan materials the charge is $115. Students may receive a billing notice via email, and the charge may be sent to the student accounts office. If the item is later returned, $55 will be credited to the student’s account. $10 will remain as a mandatory processing fee.

Due to their limited availability, the following objects are still subject to late fees:

  • Materials on course reserves ($0.25 an hour)
  • Bicycles, bike helmets, and bike lights ($5.00 a day)

Students are able to continue checking items out until their account exceeds $5.00 in fines. Fines can be paid for at the Library Service Desk using Mac Money.
